On August 28, 2024, the Indonesian Yayasan Penguatan Partisipasi, Inisiatif, dan Kemitraan Masyarakat Indonesia (YAPPIKA), along with the Indonesian Association of Human Rights Lecturers (SEPAHAM) Indonesia, held the Kick-off of the BASIS Program at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya (UB). This event marked a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen civil society and achieve sustainable development goals in Indonesia, supported by the European Union (EU) funding.
The BASIS Program, an acronym for “Building Solidarity and Social Inclusiveness Actions,” is designed to facilitate active community participation in development processes. The program will provide training, mentoring, and resources to civil society organizations and individuals who wish to engage in inclusive and sustainable development activities. Through this initiative, YAPPIKA and SEPAHAM aim to create a more equitable and just environment for all citizens.
In his opening remarks, the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya expressed his support for the program and emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and civil society in achieving sustainable development goals. Participants from diverse backgrounds participated in discussions and workshops held during the event, providing valuable insights and feedback for the program’s future success.
